Friends:

I know that many of you are hopeful that the inauguration of Barack Obama will mean a swift move toward immigration reform.  I have made clear in my writings that I am less hopeful.  None of the major articles on Obama’s first year priorities mention immigration reform except those in listserves and bulletins from those supporting legalization.  In my view, that’s wishful thinking, but that major immigration reform is a long way off.

Still, I think an Obama adminsitration can and will do some things administratively to make life easier for immigrants.  My guess is that he will order his attorney general to continue to move against “criminal aliens” but to back off on factory raids.  These raids do little more than terrorize immigrant communities.  Obama can make this change without Congress or anyone else getting in the way.  Also, we may see some general easing of employer sanctions enforcement.

Stay tuned.

I wish the new President would take his time to pay attention to you, as a man with a great heart, allowing you to draft the new Immigration Reform Package in a so emerging need of a change, so you can point to him, how Immigration workers are in the majority cold and disrespectful to the paperwork provided to them. I often read your Daily News articles. I am an immigrant, and I will mail a letter to the Dept. of Homeland Security, and verify in realistic terms, if some Change has taken affect with them, under this new Administration.

I will stay tuned and I will know for sure if Change and Justice mean the same under the new admnistration.

In one of the President’s speech, he affirms that the challenges the United States of America is real. Immigrants are real in the US. They are as part of this America’s story, as never before. He also reaffirmed the greatness of the America nation. He is one hundred percent correct. Greatness is never a given. He is sure that America will remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on the earth. So, Allan, Obama knows that in order to remain powerful in this globe, with all the immigrants representing the globe waiting the powerful nation to be fair, and respectful to all their sweat and hidden contribution to a better and everlasting America is a given on two accords.

Unfortunately, Allan Wernick, American Politics forget the power of the little people who have immigrated to this country for the dreams America so proud display around the world. Especially in countries, where the people are poor, and come here believing that everything America is! Is real.

  5. Zuleide R Leonardo Says:

To be real is the only way for America to remain powerful and prosperous. I doubt if any other way will work!

Once again! Thank You Allan for your existence! The Lord of Glory be with you.

So far the Change Man, who was supposed to be the Immigrants hope, has not done anything to make us fell hopeful. Thanks to 6O Minutes I have found out about Widows Deportation Proceeding.
Now, what if we find out the Obama was not born in the US, could we deport his family out of the country? This is a joke!

As in Allan Wernick sincere report, a wishful thinking of this sort is a major immigration reform and way off. Like “FourFour”!

I will keep checking on how Immigration is treating immigrants. Until today the Department of Homeland Security could not reply their answer to an Appeal of September 2006. They simply do not know how to answer or by answering, they will have to choke and shove their denial all the way from their throat to their tiny holes.

allan wernick thank you for all the support that you are making for all thhe immigrant.

as a father of 4 kids and a single parent supporting them was the priority and sacrifice being with them.

the immigration reform should also look at the angle of not really giving the immigrants permant resedence but the could consider giving them working visas that they can just renue. this will allow illegal immigrants to pay taxes and it will help on the national security.

most of the immigrants now just want to be free to go back to their countries and come back to work here to support their family. the reform also concentrate on the profesional workinng force. the reform should also allow the blue collar work force to have a chance to have a working visa because with out them our lives will be harder.

with this too the problem that the health bill obama’s try to push will be solve because according to one of the artile in the news paper places where illegal immigrants are high health care will be harder because of the budget. making them legal will means taxes and less people w/ out health insurance.
