Could the DHS Plan to Rid the Country of Undocumented Immigrants Work
Friday, August 31st, 2007The response from major business and union leaders note in this Washington Post article, tells us that the new Bush plan to clamp down on undocumented workers has people worried. By suggesting that DHS will punish employers whose workers don’t have valid social security numbers, the agency is serving notice on the nation’s businesses that hire undocumented workers. While both workers and businesses are worried, I’m not sure how this will all play out. Will President Bush really crush agribusiness where up to 70 percent of the workers are undocumented? Will his Republican friends stand by while thousands of small businesses close. I doubt. This fight isn’t over. Stay tuned.
