Consultations

To assist immigrants, we offer a unique consultation service. For a fee of $195, Professor Wernick will personally review your case, and advise you as to the best course of action. If you already have a lawyer, you can use this consultation to get a second opinion about your case. If you need a lawyer, in most cases Prof. Wernick will refer you to an attorney or a not-for-profit agency with the expertise to represent you.

Arranging A Consultation

Click on 'Purchase a Consultation' below and you will be sent to a page where you can pay by credit card. Once we receive your payment, you will receive a questionnaire. You'll be instructed how to return it to us by email, and we will email you within 72 hours with three possible times for the phone consultation. If you are in the United States, Prof. Wernick will call you. If you are outside the United State, he will give you a choice of times to call and provide you with the phone number. If those three times are not good for you, we will suggest three more.

About the Consultation

The consultation is confidential. Nothing disclosed in the consultation will be revealed to any third parties without your permission.

Some cases, particularly those involving criminal records and deportation/removal defense, will require research and analysis beyond that which can be provided for the standard consultation fee. Prof. Wernick will discuss with you research fees in these cases.

Prof. Wernick is not trying to acquire clients, but rather to provide high quality consultations. Should you decide to retain a lawyer, you'll negotiate fees with that lawyer separately. Prof. Wernick rarely handles cases himself, though you can discuss that option with him.

Payment

You pay for the consultation online by credit card (Visa or MasterCard). If you do not have a credit card you may send a check or money order with your questionnaire to:
